The Wallabies are eager to dominate the aerial battle as they look to take it to the All Blacks in Perth.

The Australians have settled into Perth ahead of a sold-out match at Optus Stadium, hungry to avenge last Saturday's defeat at Eden Park.

On that day, the Kiwis were able to control the skies in the first half, racing out to a 20-3 lead that ultimately proved too much to overcome.

It was a tactic that brought success for Argentina and South Africa in previous matches during the Rugby Championship.

Outside back Filipo Daugunu admits it has been a focus as they look to end a string of defeats to their trans-Tasman rivals.

"That's one of our main tools, the aerial ball, and they won a lot of balls in the air which is tough on us so we've been working on it during the week," he said.

"We're going to work on it more in the coming days, and hopefully we have a good opportunity to go again."

The Wallabies achieved defensive success through their line speed late in the game, which remains a key focus to limit the effectiveness of New Zealand's star backline.

"We're happy with our defence, but we need to get more aggressive and get more from our contact to try and slow the breakdown to set a good defensive line Daugunu explained.

"[Coach Joe Schmidt] is happy, but we need more from not only our backs but the entire 15.

"...The more pressure we get, the more errors we can force so we can get the ball back."

The two teams face a unique aerial journey to Perth, sharing a flight from Auckland to the west of Australia.

Front-rowers Taniela Tupou and Samisoni Taukei'aho were among opposition players side-by-side for the long-haul fault, putting rivalries on hold.

"It was sweet, just like a normal five or seven hours or something. It was all good," second-rower Jeremy Williams added after sharing a laugh with Daugunu.

"[I] just sat in my seat and had a yarn with the other boys...there was no tension."
